The ICDME (International Cooperation Development in Mathematics Education) is an informal group of mathematics educators that was formed in 2021 at the end of the 14th International Congress on Mathematical Education (ICME 14 Shanghai) where international cooperation was discussed for the first time as a Topic Study Group at the ICME. Since its formation, ICDME has held two online conferences to focus on the issues and challenges that are faced in international cooperation in particular in the area of mathematics education. This presentation will highlight some insights that were shared at the two conferences and also in informal discussions among the members of the ICDME.

Two key themes that will be discussed in this presentation are in the areas of 1) The universal and local contexts of the mathematics curricula, and 2) Transitions across the various levels of the mathematics curriculum.
