[Seminar Report] “Quality education for every child through trust and technology” on January 22, 2024

International Education Development Program, Hiroshima University organized a seminar “Quality education for every child through trust and technology” on January 22, 2024 (Monday), where representatives from Seiko Epson Corporation (Epson) shared insights into their initiatives using projectors in education in developing countries.

In March 2022, Epson signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) and has since been actively involved in cooperative activities aimed at addressing social challenges in developing countries. Their initiatives, particularly those involving projectors, have included collaborative efforts with Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) to implement classroom activities using projectors.

During the seminar, speakers presented their contributions to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their commitment to promoting innovation for resolving educational challenges in developing countries. The session also highlighted collaborative activities with JOCV. Furthermore, a live demonstration of the projector utilized in classrooms in developing countries was conducted.

Approximately 40 participants attended the seminar, including international students from the International Education Development Program. Many of these students, with backgrounds as educational administrators or teachers in the Asia and Africa regions, actively engaged in a vibrant exchange of ideas during the Q&A session. Discussions centered around the necessity of projectors and how projectors can develop the interaction between teachers and students.
